Marta Morgado taught at the largest school for Deaf students in Portugal for 21 years. She completed her PhD in the linguistics of African sign languages at Leiden University in the Netherlands in 2024. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow on the SignMorph project at the University of Birmingham, England, where her research focuses on the impact of International Sign on Portuguese Sign Language.
