Rt Hon Chloe Smith legislated the British Sign Language Act 2022 while Minister for Disabled People in the UK government. She sees this as one of her proudest achievements in her 15 years service in Parliament.
After Parliament, Chloe is Special Ambassador for the British Deaf Association.
She’s also a trustee of RNID and chair of a technology start-up led by Deaf engineers that offers sign-language translation globally.
Chloe is passionate about people and technology. She is President of the CIPD (Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development), and strategic adviser to a major international professional services firm.
She speaks from her experience in leadership at the highest levels, spanning both executive and non-executive roles, in the private, public and charity sectors. She’s recognised in the Digital Leaders AI 100 2025.
Chloe’s deaf father is an inspiration in her work with the d/Deaf community. Chloe also loves spending time with her children and playing badminton. Having beaten breast cancer, she is a trustee of a cancer charity.
